First of all let me tell you the story of how I became part of this Thirty-One gifts family.
It was spring of 08 and I had decided to visit an open house with my aunt Sandra. We love seeing all the great booths that people set up to try to make a sale or two. Lots of the booths were direct sales companies. Avon, Mary Kay, Arbonne, Tupperware, Princess House...just to name a few.
I was pregnant and probably looking a little rough since it was at the end of my work day. No makeup and my hair pulled back in a clip, and I didn't feel like putting in my contacts, so I was wearing my dorky glasses. For awhile I had been on the look out for a personalized diaper bag. The couple years before, I had went to market and had my first daughter one personalized. Needless to say, I had to have something similar for my second daughter (so she wouldn't feel left out)
I spotted a booth with handbags, purses, DIAPER BAG! I've got to have it!!! That moment is when I met lovely Pam! Pam had her table scape so springy and beautiful. Of course a hormonal pregnant woman would leap for joy when she saw this! Pam drew me in like a fish despite my horrible looks! She started telling me that I could get this for free! Yeah, that sounds nice!
So, I took home a catalog. Looked at it about 400 times a day. Pam called me to check in on what I had decided to do. Think I'm gonna sign up! I could earn all this extra commission and not feel guilty about my spending sprees for the baby, or my other daughter....OR ME!!!! So I got signed up! Didn't take but just a few minutes and I got to call myself a new Thirty-One Gifts consultant!!! Since I was pregnant, I really did not have the motivation to go to other peoples house and have parties...but I knew I had to have one soon. This is where I put my family to work. My sister had her first show and so I made my first sales. That got me so pumped!!!
A few months went by. I had the baby in the meantime and got my beautiful diaper bag! Once the baby was born, this is when the sales started pouring in! Finally I qualified with my first $1000 in sales and I was on my way to having parties and meeting new people every month since!
Thirty-One has been a wonderful experience for me. My director Pam is not only my director, but she has become a wonderful friend to me. Also, I've met the founder and President, Cindy Monroe. She is so great! Thirty-One gives me the opportunity to be a stay at home mom. Some months I don't even have to get out and do a home show....People come to me to place a party order so they can get all this FREE stuff for themselves!
We all have our up and down months. The economy puts a damper on things. People are reluctant to spend their money. But if you get a few friends together, you'd be amazed at how well a small party can do. On top of that, the hostess gets FREE and half price. So being a hostess actually saves you money! Its a matter of being honest with your customers, and telling them the truth about the products and company.
If you have a moment you can turn in your Bible to Proverbs 31. Cindy Monroe named the company after this! The Virtuous Woman. That is what we all strive to be!
I hope to keep building my Thirty-One team. This will be my 3rd year with Thirty-One. Wow how time flies!
